For Volunteer Programs : Benefits of Membership

CNVS is a membership organization comprised of Christian faith-based programs. Our goal is to ensure that our members have the knowledge and resources that they need to identify and support volunteers for service in full-time faith-based programs.

CNVS offers the following benefits to our member programs:

• Your program description will be included in our annual RESPONSE, the premier directory of faith-based service opportunities. Each year 28,000 copies of RESPONSE are distributed to university career service offices, campus ministry offices, parishes, potential volunteers, retreat centers, and high schools.
• Over 30,000 visitors come to our web site on a monthly basis. They have the ability to search all our member programs and save their searches.
• The opportunity to enroll volunteers in the AmeriCorps Education Awards Program (AEAP), in which volunteers can receive an education award of up to $4,725 for a year of service.
• Each year CNVS hosts its National Conference, bringing together over 120 staff members of faith-based volunteer programs. Additionally, CNVS offers Formation Workshops for new programs and new staff members, and Renewal Workshops on topics of vital concern to our programs. Past workshops have focused on issues such as diversity and legal and financial issues affecting volunteer programs.
• A network of nearly 200 programs committed to faith-based service for lay men and women.
• Programs have access to Members’ Only on-line Resource Library, containing materials on all aspects of program operation and management.
• Monthly newsletter, How Can I Help?, which keeps members informed about important issues affecting volunteer programs.
• Access to profiles of potential volunteers, sent to your program twice a month .
• Our toll-free number provides potential volunteers easy access to our national office.
• Access to the staff and resources of CNVS to provide programs with consultative and research needs.
• Our Recruitment Coordinator attends 20-25 volunteer fairs a year on college campuses across the country.
• Availability of health insurance for volunteers.
